Selichot are special prayers of repentance and forgiveness that begin late on the Saturday night prior to Rosh Hashanah and continue through Yom Kippur. Following a dessert reception, there will be a clergy panel with Rabbis Brian Strauss, Sarah Fort, David Mendelson, and Ranon Teller of Brith Shalom and moderated by Steven Sheldon. This will also be our first chance to hear the High Holy Day Choir and see our new white Torah covers that were purchased with the donations from the Year End Fundraiser.

"This past Friday, I shared a deeply personal story about a moment that tested my values. While visiting my daughter at college with my whole family, someone make a blatant antisemitic remark in front of 300 people—on a microphone for all to hear. In that instant, I faced a choice that many of us dread: stay silent or speak up? What happened next became a powerful reminder about the importance of calling out antisemitism and not letting lies and tropes go unchallenged. Watch the full sermon to discover how one uncomfortable moment unfolded" . - Rabbi Brian Strauss

Our hearts are with Central Texas
Congregation Beth Yeshurun joins in mourning the lives lost and prays for healing and safety for all those affected by the devastating flooding in Central Texas. We send strength to the families grieving, to the first responders, and to all whose lives have been upended. In the words of the Psalmist: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). May the One who brings comfort to the brokenhearted shelter all who are suffering under the wings of peace. - Rabbi Brian Strauss

Thank you, MERCAZ voters!
Thank you to everyone who voted for MERCAZ in the World Zionist Congress elections! Your participation helped create record-breaking turnout with over 230,000 American Jews voting—nearly doubling participation from 2020. This historic engagement powerfully demonstrates that Zionism is thriving among American Jews.
The results also reflect the strength of our Conservative movement. MERCAZ USA secured 28,000 votes, nearly doubling our 2020 total.
The Congress allocates nearly $1 billion annually to support Israeli and Jewish communities. Your vote helps direct these resources toward rebuilding communities affected by October 7th, strengthening Jewish education in our own synagogues and youth programs, and promoting the inclusive, pluralistic values our movement champions right here at home and in Israel.
Special thanks to our congregational representative, Liz Vincent, for spearheading our MERCAZ efforts!

100 Jewish Men: An Evening with Rabbi Nolan Lebovitz
Rabbi Nolan Lebovitz joins us for a conversation on his book, "The Case for Dual Loyalty." The book challenges the oldest taboo in American Jewish life. Rabbi Lebovitz argues that proudly declaring Jewish loyalty forges a new path forward imbued with pride of peoplehood and collective destiny. What he calls "dual loyalty" is not just about supporting Israel - it's about loyalty to Jewish peoplehood as a foundational principle of our identity no less than our loyalty to America. Juice Box Drive for Kids' Meals
Beth Yeshurun is supporting Kids’ Meals Houston’s mission by participating in the 2025 Summer Juice Box Challenge. Purchase juice boxes (must be 100% juice) to be sent directly to Kids’ Meals Houston. Visit the Juice Box Challenge website and an additional 5% of the retail value will go back to Kids’ Meals Houston! Each weekday, Kids Meals’ Houston delivers healthy meals to Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children. When school is out, every child up to age 18 in these homes also receives a healthy meal from Kids’ Meals – that’s over 14,000 meals per day. Our goal is to provide 2,000 juice boxes! We have met our goal the last 4 years! Help us get there again! The Juice Box Challenge goes through June 30th.MORE INFO
