Grade School Families Joe Buchanan is back! He and Rabbi Fort will lead this hour-ish service at 10:30am in the Freedman-Levit Sanctuary and cover all the major prayers, with lots of songs, and some family activities, too. Teens On Yom Kippur, we have two teen programs that will start at 2:30 pm. Gal Litani, BYDS Israel Shaliach and a CYJ staff member for the last two summers, will be leading a program for our middle school students in Zubowski A. Our high school program will be led by Danielle Alexander, Kehillah High Director, and Sarah Yonas, Lonestar BBYO Regional Director, and will take place in Zubowski B. We hope that our teens will attend the program that is for them and then plan to stay for the Teen-led Mincha service at 4:30 to support their peers.
Neilah Each child will be given a glow stick to use when we walk into Barg Sanctuary together for the end of the Neilah service, Havdalah, and the final blast of the shofar at 7:26. As the lights are lowered in the Sanctuary and the children walk in lines to the bimah, it’s a beautiful ending to the day, and we hope many of our families will return for that. All Children should meet us in Freedman Levit Sanctuary at 6:50pm (parents should join us if the children are young). We are so happy to be able to bring this tradition back for the first time in several years!

The entire Yizkor Book is also available electronically on our website.
To ensure that the names of your loved ones will be memorialized in our 5783 Yizkor Book Shemini Atzeret Addendum, the form below must be submitted by Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Names received after October 12, 2022 might not be printed in the Shemini Atzeret addendum, but will be included in the online version of the book as well as future printed addendums.

This list is ongoing and once the name of your loved one is included, you do not need to complete this form again in the years to come. However, if your loved one is not yet included, please list the name(s) of your loved ones so that we may add them to the Reverent Tribute section.

SEARCH Homeless Services and its Council of Congregations invite faith groups across the Houston area to participate October 7th - 9th in World Homeless Weekend – a time for you to “do one thing” with your congregation to raise awareness, provide service opportunities, pray, and/or advocate for some of the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our city.
Beth Yeshurun is proud to participate and offer you two ways you can support this initiative at our SEARCH in the Sukkah event. All ages are invited to help with a hand-on mitzvah project at our Sukkot event where we will assemble snack bags with notes of support and encouragement. Travel Through Torah & Simchat Torah Celebration Monday, October 17th 5:30pm Travel Through Torah | 6:30pm Simchat Torah
We kick off our Simchat Torah celebration at 5:30p with our Young Families as we Travel Through Torah. Our kids will work their way through stations of crafts and games, beginning with Creation and ending with the arrival in the Promised Land. This event is geared toward preschool and younger elementary school kids. Stick around for our service following! While we will have a treat for the kids, this event does not include dinner.
At 6:30p we will have our traditional Simchat Torah service in the Barg Sanctuary. Join all of our clergy for the hakafot - with both kids and adults - and for one of our favorite Beth Yeshurun traditions, the candy hakafah finale. We will also debut our beautiful new Torah covers and thank our generous donors as we invite them up for the first hakafah!
