This fall we kick off our new Shabbat Shalom Bag program, a great idea from our new Social Action Chairs, Morgan Steinberg and Lindsay Tavor.  Often we think of Social action as working to support organizations in our larger community, but it can also include working within our own Beth Yeshurun community.  Connecting with a member on Shabbat who would benefit from a special outreach from the congregation is an incredible mitzvah and is a special way for our members to meet each other. 

• Volunteers will pick up a bag with Shabbat candles and grape juice from Beth Yeshurun on a Monday.  During the week, they will purchase a kosher challah and add their own creative touches to the bag (some decoration, a card, a special treat), then deliver the bag on Thursday or Friday before sundown. 
• We will help put together lists of congregants that would especially appreciate hearing from Beth Yeshurun friends with a special Shabbat gift, such as a new member, a member in the hospital or recovering from illness, a senior, or a member with a new baby.  These are just some examples.

Register to participate one or more times this fall!  Once you have registered we will reach out to you with specific instructions and the contact information for your Shabbat Bag recipient. 

In order to have bags ready for pickup on Monday, November 15th the last day to register for the NOVEMBER pickup date is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH.
