Shabbat Table Talk with Sondee Chalcraft of SEARCH Homeless Services

Friday, October 9, 2020 21 Tishrei 5781

6:45 PM - 7:15 PM

With our new Shabbat Table Talk series, our goal is to invite local leaders to join in conversation with Rabbi Strauss to discuss topics that are important and relevant to our Beth Yeshurun community.  We hope that these conversations will be both informative and thought-provoking and that you’ll bring these topics back to YOUR Shabbat Table to keep the conversation going!

This month we welcome Sondee Chalcraft, the Vice President of Development for SEARCH Homeless Services.  SEARCH is participating in World Homeless Weekend and Sondee will talk with with Rabbi Strauss about homelessness in our Houston area, especially as it has been impacted by COVID-19.  They will also discuss how our community can become more educated and involved to help with homelessness in our city.

The conversation will begin about 6:45pm immediately after Friday Night services.

Stay on the Website, YouTube channel, Facebook Live following services to join us!

Click HERE to download our handout to accompany your Shabbat Table Talk.  Includes topics Rabbi Strauss will discuss, some conversation suggestions for YOUR Shabbat table, and some resources to keep you informed.

Also, download SEARCH's "How to Talk to Your Kids About Homelessness."  It offers ideas for guided conversation for kids aged 5 - 9, 10 - 14, and 15 - 18.  It includes approaches to explaining homelessness and gives ideas of ways that people of all ages can help.
