Long Way Home: A Memoir of Fame, Family, and Redemption

In conversation with Zibby Owens, host of podcast Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books

We’re up close and personal with one of Hollywood’s family dynasties – Screen The Untameable Kirk Douglas, the story of the late film legend Kirk Douglas, and then, meet his grandson Cameron Douglas who will speak on his memoir, Long Way Home, which depicts his personal struggle with addiction. The film will be available Wednesday - Friday, October 21 - 23.

Cameron Douglas – son of Academy Award-winning actor and producer Michael Douglas, grandson of international star Kirk Douglas – is born into wealth, privilege and comfort.

But by the age of 30, he had become a drug addict, a thief, and - after a DEA drug bust - a convicted drug dealer sentenced to five years in prison, with another five years added to his sentence while incarcerated. Eventually he spends two years in solitary, where he manages to hold fast to the brutal ethos of prison survival . . . until he begins to reverse his savage transformation.

Douglas’ memoir, Long Way Home, is a raw recounting of his harrowing, remarkable and ultimately inspiring life story.
