Mazel tov to our Bat Mitzvah, Sophia Camille Winard, daughter of Andrea and Yosef Winard and the older sister of Alyssa. Her proud grandparents are Harriet and Arnold Eisenstein, Shlomo Winard and Ione Winard^z”l. Sophia will be an eighth grader at Meyerland Middle School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She has recently been inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, is on the Principal’s Honor Roll, in the MPVA Dance Ensemble, and the Advanced Piano Program. She is also a featured dance, piano and vocal soloist and has performed for Mariana Parnas-Simpson. Sophia has performed with Cantors Vadim Tunitsky and Rachel Goldman, and Beth Yeshurun’s High Holiday Intergenerational Choir, The Shul Sisters and Beth Yeshurun’s Purim Services. For her Bat Mitzvah Project, Sophia has assisted with leading Shabbat Services at the Brookdale Senior Living Facility and donated to Hadassah’s Youth Aliyah Villages. As a Great-Grandchild of Holocaust Survivors and part of Sophia’s Bat Mitzvah Project, she will also be volunteering at the Houston Holocaust Museum.
