"Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity." - Psalm 133:1
Dear Beth Yeshurun Community,
Judaism teaches us that the presence of God, the Shekhinah, is most clearly present when a large group of Jews come together in prayer. We are blessed to be together again this season.
On behalf of the clergy, staff, and leadership, we hope that you found this season to be meaningful and engaging.
Rabbi Brian Strauss
Sermons & Speeches
To help you reflect on this past High Holy Days or find something you may want to watch again, we have compiled a playlist featuring songs, sermons, stories, services and more. We will continue to add to this playlist over the coming days and encourage you to subscribe!
Beth Yeshurun is a community that carries each other during our most vulnerable moments. We are spiritually uplifted, religiously engaged, intellectually inspired with a dedication to loving humanity, leaving a legacy that will serve Jews for generations to come. We sincerely appreciate your generous support of our synagogue. Together, at Beth Yeshurun, we strive to foster a spirit of collective strength where we uplift one another and our Jewish community.
Names can still be submitted for the printed Shemini Atzeret Addendum
Yizkor is approaching, a time to honor the memory of our loved ones. Shemini Atzeret Yizkor Services will be on Thursday morning, October 24.
Our Congregational Yizkor Book will highlight the names of our dear family and loved ones. The book will be distributed at the synagogue on Yizkor and will also be available via mail or pickup at the synagogue the week before Yizkor. An electronic version of the Yizkor Book will be available on our website.
To ensure the names of your loved ones are included in the Shemini Atzeret Addendum for the 5785 Yizkor Book, please submit the form by Monday, October 21. Names received after October 21 may not be printed in this Addendum but will be included in future addenda.
Additionally, the form for the Reverent Tribute section of our Yizkor Book, honoring Beth Yeshurun members of blessed memory who served in the U.S. military, is available online. Once a name is included in this section, no further submission is needed in subsequent years. However, if your loved one is not yet listed, please provide their name so we can add them to the Reverent Tribute section.
Please complete these forms online by Monday, October 21. Should you have any questions, please contact Meredith Segal directly at 713.255.8008 or msegal@bethyeshurun.org
We are deeply thankful for your support and hope that Beth Yeshurun’s Yizkor Book of Remembrance provides a source of comfort for you and our Congregation.
