Congregation Beth Yeshurun
Dear {{first_name}},
Beth Yeshurun is more than just a synagogue; it's a community that supports one another during our most vulnerable moments. We are spiritually uplifted, religiously engaged, intellectually inspired, and deeply committed to helping Israel and each other. Together, we work to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. This congregation is a home that you, our members, have built.
On Kol Nidre, we invite you to join us as we welcome our members, Jerrad and Sara Bloome, who will share how Beth Yeshurun has shaped their lives from childhood to the present and the significance of tzedakah as part of our High Holy Day Appeal.
“What we love about Beth Yeshurun is the journey it offers. It provides growth, learning, and opportunities to give back throughout all stages of life—from kindergarten to B'nai Mitzvah, marriage, and beyond. Beth Yeshurun has been our foundation and support, and we cherish the community that has guided us. It is our responsibility to ensure it continues to be a vital part of your journey and that of future Jewish Houstonians.”
Your continued generosity has enabled us to:
Invest in our future: We offer an introductory rate for membership dues to members under 35, whether families or individuals. This special rate has attracted many younger members to Beth Yeshurun, and we are excited to support them on their Jewish journey!
Partner with the Community: We proudly host community programs, such as the recent Maccabi JCC Cares social action project. Following the tragic October 7th attacks in Israel, we were honored to host the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston’s Community Gathering in Solidarity with Israel.
Update our HVAC System: We don't think about the HVAC system daily, but notice when it stops working! This summer, during triple-digit temperatures, a portion of our building, including the Freedman Levit Sanctuary, was without air conditioning. Thanks to the unwavering support of our members through their dues and the High Holy Day Appeal, we are able to maintain our facility's HVAC system and address necessary repairs swiftly.
Engage with our Community: We provide a range of social, spiritual, and educational opportunities for individuals and families, from diverse minyanim and enriching programs like TOT Shabbat to Tikkun Olam events and Jewish education from pre-K through adults. Our offerings also include Scholar-in-Residence, Rosh Chodesh programs, and the monthly YES Group lunch for seniors. We’re excited about upcoming events like the Pickleball Tournament in January 2025.
We are deeply grateful to the Tzedakah Society, whose members are listed below. Their generous commitment to doubling the impact of your donations by matching appeal contributions dollar for dollar is invaluable. Shanah Tovah,
Rabbi Brian Strauss, The Susie and Scott Bender - Senior Rabbinic Chair
