Arthur Nathan

Arthur is a native Houstonian who has been a member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun his entire life. He graduated with a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and with a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School. Arthur is an Of Counsel in Jones Day where he is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and the Tax Group. Arthur has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center where he taught Business Planning and Advanced Corporate Tax. Arthur has served on the Board of Trustees and as a Co-Chair of the J.B. Greenfield Chapel Committee. He has also served on the Budget Committee and Legal Committee. As a member of the Executive Committee, he is working with the Membership Committee, High Holiday Committee, Each One Ask One Campaign, Inclusion Committee and the Shalom Y’All Committee. Arthur is serving as the Chair of Task Force I which is focusing on membership, dues, the building fund and related issues. Arthur has served as the High Holiday Baal Shachrit in the Barg Sanctuary, the J.B. Greenfield Chapel and Seven Acres during the last 24+ years. Between them, Arthur and his wife, Arlene, have four sons, one daughter, one son-in-law, and one daughter-in-law: Laura (Ricky), Robert, Jeff (Sheila), Rob and Doug. They are the proud grandparents of 4 grandchildren: Zoe, Mia, Lilah and David. Arthur considers it a great privilege to serve on the Executive Committee and as a Vice President.
