We are entering the FOURTH year of our partnership with Reynolds Elementary! We'd like to share some BIG thank yous and catch you up on what we have been doing:

Thank you to our Congregants for their amazing financial support!! 

• Over the past two years, you purchased $13,000 of school supplies from our Amazon Wish List
• You also donated $27,000 to fund supplies and programs for the students and staff.

We have been busy these past three years!

• The first year we provided every student with new backpacks, and for each of the last three years, we have purchased thousands of dollars in school supplies
• BY Co-sponsored HISD's “Leader in Me” leadership curriculum for the school students
• Each year we have arranged several special lunches and celebrations for the teachers
• We prepared incentive goodie bags for kids to motivate kids to reach their online attendance and participation goals during COVID
• We provided special t-shirts to recognize the members of the Reynolds Student Council, as well as treats for student council and sporting activities.
• For three years, we have partnered with Congressman Al Green to provide each family with a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey and an HEB gift card
• Each Christmas for the last two years, we collected enough toys to gift every student a new toy.  This past year we had tremendous support from BYDS and our Religious School.
• We underwrote a Pre-K intervention curriculum in math and beginning reading skills
• We had first virtual and then in-person tutors in the classrooms to help with critical reading skills.  Our dedicated tutors continue working with the kids on a weekly basis.
• This past year we helped the PTO to incorporate and get up and running, giving the school even more valuable support.

We are so proud of our congregation's support and of all the HARD WORK done by Diane Levy and her committee. 

So what should we focus on now?

• 2023-24 School Supply Amazon Wish List!  The Amazon wish list has the most critical supplies to get the kids started in the classroom.  If you'd like to purchase supplies that will be direct shipped to Reynolds, head to their Amazon Wish List.
• Cash Donations! We will continue providing Reynolds with necessary school supplies, intervention curricula, and teacher lunches and celebrations.  This year we hope to help Reynolds develop an afterschool program to give the kids further enrichment and provide a safe place while parents are working.  With the HISD budget cuts, we expect that the school will continue to need outside support.   We welcome your donations to continue to support all of our programs!
• Tutoring and Reading! Volunteers approved by HISD are assigned a classroom and help with either tutoring or reading to the class (especially PreK). Please contact Diane Levy to find out more.
